I own a 2004 Honda Accord EX-L, 4 cyl, 5 speed manual transmission. It's
Graphite Pearl. I purchased it on June 30, 2004, and so of course, my Camry
has been stripped down. I won't be doing many mods to the Accord, only
simply things that are cosmetic or functional. Basically things that
will keep my car street legal.
My main Camry site is located at another site, it's a mess but hey, it
does the job. Here's the current
link. If you have any questions
on my Camry, check out
ToyotaNation.com
as pretty much everything I do to my Camry is on that forum. The car's
been stripped down to stock.
Here are the mods to date for my Accord:
#14 - 2005-10-30 - Custom Cold Air Intake, tints, clean car So the short ram intake wasn't too great. Lost low end torque
and a bit drony at lower rpm. I found a used 3" aluminum cold
air intake for a 97 accord selling for $20, so I bought it. It came in
two parts, and it was the 90 degree bend that I really wanted. I
basically just cut the blue piping in two and stuck everything together.
Let me tell you, it restored low end torque (probably back to stock airbox
standards lol), but higher end torque seemed better. Overall, the car just
felt quicker, but this is just the butt dyno. The overall sound of it
is nice, there's a vacuum cleaner like humm during idle, and it's quiet
during normal acceleration. At WOT, it's sounds great.... Of course,
here are some more recent pictures of my car...finally did some tints, light
in the front, medium in the back.
#13 - 2005-07-17 - Custom Short Ram Intake, custom grill, Neuspeed
strut bar, painted Honda badge, debadged trunk Ok, finally had some time off to do some more stuff. First is
the short ram intake. I basically just removed the whole stock airbox
and then bought a 3" diameter brass pipe from Rona. About 8" in
length, cost was like $5. Bought some clamps as well, stuck on my old K&N
filter and there we have it! Initially, I just removed the resonator
from my ride, and left the stock airbox in...not only does it sound horrible
(hollowy and loud), you lose a lot of low end torque. With this, it
sounds very decent 3K and above, a bit more power at that range as well.
However, I can't lie...I did feel a bit of power loss in the low end torque.
Since I'm a highway driver, I rather have the high end power than low end
power.
The custom grill was built using some gutter grill I had lying around
from my Camry. Basically I had to remove the bumper, primed and
painted it, ziptied it on, and that's it. I painted it black to give it that
stealthy look...plus silver is so played out and I really, really installed
this to keep the rocks outta my radiator.
Never took a pic of the Neuspeed strut bar, actually bought it in
February for $115...took 30 minutes to install. Coupled with the rear
sway bar, handling is much nicer...tightened up the high speed turns on
highway ramps.
I debadged my Accord sign at the back, gives it a cleaner look. I
just used some dental floss and Goo Gone...took 10 minutes. As well, I
painted my Honda symbol graphite. Dunno why, just did one day. It
popped off with dental floss.
#12 - 2005-03-26 - Glamour shots Just some more shots on a sunny spring day in Canada. You can
see the rims better...I think it looks ok, even if it's not lowered.
The wheel gap is even.
#11 - 2005-03-27 - Clean car Nothing special here. Just cleaned the car for the first time
in spring, stuck on my summer rims and that's about it. The tires are
a bit too small, 225/45/17s...I will be throwing on some 215/50/17 Michelin
Pilot HX MXM4. They are from an Acura 3.2 TL; not the greatest tire
but they quiet and smooth...perfect for the amount of highway driving I do.
Yes, I need to lower the car...I really enjoy this smooth comfy ride
though.... :)
#10 - 2005-03-24 - Installed Black-housed headlights and McCulloch HIDs It's finally warm enough here in Toronto to install some mods.
I got some black-housed headlights from someone who didn't want them from a
groupbuy from Autodynamic. Essentially they look like regular
headlights, but are painted black inside, as well as having a clear
reflector instead of amber. As well, I installed some McCulloch 5300K
HIDs from another group buy. They shine a bit blue, but nothing too
crazy. Is there glare? Yes. But you can aim the headlight
down and it should be okay. I don't have the time to do a projector
retrofit, so this is the best I can do. The beam is ok, it's less
defined than the stock housing. I had to remove the bumper to install
the headlights, it's easier than it looks. You only have to remove a
handful of clips and two screws.
#9 - 2004-09-04 - Made Sub box, installed rear sway bar and various
LED's. Some more goodies, but not done all on this day. First off, my
ported subwoofer box was way too big. I decided to make a sealed box,
wasn't too hard at all. Just bought some 3/4" MDF from Rona, some carpet,
glue, etc, and made it to exactly 1.25 cubic feet (perfect for my sub).
No pics because it's just a box. :) I also bought the 20 mm Acura 3.2
TL Type-S rear anti-sway bar. It's 14mm stock size for the Gen 7
Accord which is ridiculously thin. Also bought new bushings and
brackets, total was about ~$70 Cnd. It tightens up the rear, mainly at
highway speeds and it reduces the floating of the rear. Made the car
more neutral when cornering, it's a great mod to do...and can be installed
on your driveway in 1 hour.
Now for lights. I changed the courtesy lights to blue LED's, took
10 minutes. Anyone know what a Toyota Scion is? It's only
offered in the US and basically they have a light kit for it...which lights
up the footwells and the cupholder! I decided to do the same.
First I created an OEM looking switch in the empty switch holder and then I
installed a 4" neon in the CD holder. Then I installed a small blue LED in
the cupholder, I just drilled a small hole. When I turn on the switch,
this is the effect...awesome eh?
#8 - 2004-08-15 - Installed carpet, Momo shifter, repaired foglight
A few things. The lens on my foglight shattered while driving
on the Hwy 401. This is the fourth lens I've cracked in the last four
years. Instead of buying a new lens for like $150, I bought a sheet of
Lucite from Rona for $20, cut it out to shape and replaced it. Aside from
some silicone on the edges, it looks perfect and is crystal clear. This
Lucite is apparently 100x stronger than glass. I also lined my carpet
with some carpet from Canadian Tire, just to protect it. Funny,
no one sells black carpet so I had to settle with this stuff. I also
bought JDM (I think) Accord door sills from ebay which give it a nice touch.
Finally, I bought a Momo F-16 Evo shift knob (silver/black) because the
stock knob was really slippery, even though it was leather. I think it
matches pretty well.
#7 - 2004-08-06 - Repaired ambience light
Ok, the little blue light blew...only because I removed 3 LEDs from a
cluster of 4 and I didn't replace the resistor. Anyway, I think too much
power was going through it, and it just died. So I replaced it with another
cluster with only two bulbs. Not as bright as four LED's, it's actually just
perfect...shines right on my shifter through that holey part on the upper
cluster.
#6 - 2004-08-04 - Installed blue ambience light There's a little amber ambient light at the top of the roof that
shines down on the shifter on the Gen 7 Accords. Well, when I test
drove the TSX, I remember it being blue which I preferred over the amber
colour. I couldn't replace the amber LED (since they don't sell the
blue ones separately), so I installed it myself. I spliced into the
green connector (wires 1 and 4) and stuck in a cluster of 4 blue LED's. I
think it looks pretty cool....
#5 - 2004-08-02 - Installed sub, amp, pedals, and exhaust tip
I installed a JBL amp in my car, along with a JBL sub. This stuff is from my
old ride. As well, here are some pics of some cheap pedals that I bought.
Also, I had an extra exhaust tip which I stuck on. Does nothing, but it
looks nice. You can also see my trunk tray in there, which I line with
carpet because I'm an old man like that.
#4 - 2004-07-24
Just some miscellaneous pics.
#3 - 2004-07-17 - Installed foglights
I bought some OEM foglights back in January, in anticipation of buying the
Accord. I got them for an extremely cheap price, about 1/4 the
price of them brand new. However, I still had to install them myself. I
built up the courage, and finally did it one day. It wasn't too bad, as long
as you have the detailed instructions which can be found on the net.
Cutting only took 10 minutes, it was the actual wiring that took about 1
hour in the engine bay, and about 30 minutes in the interior.
#2 - 2004-07-01 - Installed front lip, hood deflector and rims The next day, I installed the front lip spoiler and hood deflector. The
hood deflector took about 30 minutes, and the front lip took about an hour.
Pretty easy, all you really have to do is remove some bolts, stick on the
lip, and reinstall it. As well, I installed my old ALT Seven 16" rims with
Toyo Proxes TPT 215/55/16 on. These were from my 92 Camry.
#1 - 2004-06-30 - Bought a new car! Purchased the car from Ideal Honda! The only option I got was the
rear spoiler. I also bought a front lip spoiler and hood deflector
from another dealership.
